Obama World Order
The US election is coming to a climatic close. Barack Obama is looking very close to living at the White House. I am cautiously optimistic on his win but nothing is sure and people will say one thing and will do another (see the Bradley effect). I would be happy to see Obama win but I hope the diaspora will see that Obama can't right the wrongs of the community. People are talking about taking the day off and celebrating his potential win. I hope his win will prompt some members of the community to step up their game and seek ways to improve their lives. Racism does not end with his win but forces members of the community to introspection. We need to realize that the anti-intellectualism and lack of personal standards harms the community just as racism. I believe that when we take an interest in cultivating knowledge and education in our young and understanding when we control of bodies, we control ourselves. Racism would be a minor setback and not something that would stop us cold and shun the opportunities give to us. Obama's win might also show an interest in trying to improve black relationships. Obama and Michelle show a positive view of black couple together with their daughters that contrasts with the visions of baby mama's and daddies' and the drama and tension that comes with a broken home. We shouldn't demand anything from Obama's win but this victory will demand a vision and plan from us.
